Real help.

from people who care

At Open Minds, our practice started with a simple belief: that people deserve care that’s real. Support that shows up, listens, and goes the extra mile to help…..because when care is real, people feel it. That’s what makes us different.

After years of working in both psychiatric hospitals and outpatient clinics, our founder, Shelley, saw how the system often failed the very people it was there to serve. Long waitlists, cold environments, and more hoops to jump through than hands reaching out to help. She knew there had to be a better way. So, she set out to reimagine what mental healthcare could look like- and built something better.

Open Minds Mental Health opened its doors in 2021 in Goodlettsville, TN. From day one, we have been committed to offering psychiatric care that’s not only expert and effective, but also welcoming, responsive, and rooted in compassion. We started in a small converted house, something that felt more like a home than a clinic. That was intentional. We wanted people to feel safe the moment they walked in the door.

Since then, we’ve grown into a thriving, multi-provider practice, but no matter how much we grow, our mission stays the same: to make quality mental health care accessible to everyone, regardless of age, background, or diagnosis.

We treat people, not just symptoms. That means taking the time to understand each person’s unique story, circumstances, and goals. Whether someone needs help managing anxiety, navigating trauma, or just finding stability in a tough season of life, we’re here to listen and help.

Our team responds quickly, often getting new patients scheduled within 10 business days. We don’t turn people away because things are “too complex” or “we don’t take your insurance.” We are in-network with nearly all major insurance plans, as we believe care should be accessible to everyone.

We built this practice around empathy, dignity, and trust, and that’s precisely how we treat every person who contacts us. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll help you find someone who is.

At Open Minds, we promise to care, support you, and remind you that you don’t have to do this alone.
